Chisinau, 30 July /MOLDPRES/ - Over 50 children refugees from Ukraine have marked their birthdays at an event organized at the House of Nations from Chisinau. It is about children who celebrated their birthdays following the unleashing of the war in the neighbour country.

The holiday was organized by the Cultural Movement of Ukrainians from Moldova, in partnership with the Interethnic Relations Agency, with the support of the Ukrainians' Community from Moldova, led by Vitalii Mrug.  ‘’We have made much effort to bring happiness in the eyes of these children. The guests have ages between 2 and 18 years and have come from more settlements of the country. They received presents, entertained along with their parents and friends, sang, danced, participated in tombolas and diverse interactive contests. We are quite happy that, despite the tense situation, we have managed to bring tears of joy in the eyes of parents and children, who had knowledge of the feeling of fear and uncertainty at such an early age,’’ the head of the Cultural Movement of Ukrainians, Zinaida Gurscaia, said.

Attending the event, the director general of the Interethnic Relations Agency, Vera Petuhov, conveyed congratulations to all children who mark their birthdays and wished them a happy childhood in safety and peace. ‘’The solidarity is one of the most important human qualities, necessary in the cohabitation of different communities. The House of Nations and the Interethnic Relations Agency is the place where this quality is showed,’’ Vera Petuhov said.

This is second event dedicated to children refugees from Ukraine. For the first time ever, they were brought together in early last June, on the occasion of the Children’s Day.

Presently, 75,000 citizens of Ukraine are in Moldova, of whom about 40,000 are children.
