Chisinau, 30 July /MOLDPRES/ - A number of 50 parliamentary groups of friendship with other countries are set up in the parliament of the 11th legislative period. The most numerous of these groups are the one with Romania, which brings together 53 lawmakers, more than a half of all MPs.
According to the parliament’s communication and public relations department, a group of friendship with the State of Qatar was set up in the Moldovan parliament for the first time ever. Also, the group of friendship with the countries of the South-Eastern Europe was liquidated and instead, friendship groups with each state separately from the South-Eastern Europe region were created: Albania, North Macedonia, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia & Herzegovina.
It is worth mentioning that presently 37 countries created parliamentary groups of friendship with Moldova.
Through the friendship groups, the parliament strengthens the cooperation relations in diverse fields with other countries and develops the dialogue on subjects of common interest. In the first half of this year, five online meetings and four visits on the dimension of the parliamentary friendship groups were organized.
The first friendship groups in Moldova’s parliament were set up in 1994. At that time, under a parliament meeting, 25 friendship groups were set up.
