About 2,700 cases of COVID-19 recorded last week in Chisinau

Chisinau, Aug. 1 /MOLDPRES/- About 2,700 COVID-19 cases were registered last week in the capital, about 1,100 more than the previous week. The head of the General Directorate of Medical and Social Assistance, Boris Gîlca, made the statement at the operative meeting of the municipal services.
The number of coronavirus cases has increased in the suburbs of the capital. "We recommend citizens to wear protective masks in crowded public spaces and on public transport. At the same time, wearing it is mandatory in medical institutions. We have to take care of our health, that's why we recommend vaccination with all vaccine doses", said Boris Gîlca.
Also, the leadership of the General Directorate of Medical and Social Assistance mentioned that the number of people hospitalized in the capital's hospitals has decreased. "Currently, about 400 patients are hospitalized in medical institutions, 58 of them are in serious condition. For the most part, the hospitalized people are unvaccinated", Gîlca said.
According to the municipal authorities, there are sufficient reserves of medicines and medical equipment. At the same time, during the previous week, several hospitals in the capital were activated, both for adults and children.
