National Beach Soccer Team received awards from Moldovan parliament

Chisinau, 4 Aug. /MOLDPRES/- Speaker Igor Grosu conferred awards of the Legislature to the members of the National Beach Soccer Team. Diplomas were awarded today to members of the national team as a sign of high appreciation and gratitude for outstanding results and substantial contributions to the development of sport in the Republic of Moldova.

He congratulated both the athletes and the members of the technical staff, for the performances recorded and for the fact that they demonstrated that there is potential in the Republic of Moldova. The official wished the athletes to continue to be role models for our youth. "Congratulations to everyone, you made history! You have shown that a small country can come up with a team with character, which can face teams that once probably looked at the map to identify the Republic of Moldova. Beyond all the technical performance you showed, the most important thing is the confidence in success", Grosu said.

For his part, the president of the Moldovan Football Federation, Leonid Oleinicenco, thanked the members of the National Beach Football Team for the awards. "After the results recorded by the National Beach Soccer Team, more and more children have expressed their interest in practicing this sport. We want to develop this branch further and thank you for your support," said Oleinicenco.

The National Beach Soccer Team of the Republic of Moldova, led by head coach Ruslan Pernai, became the European beach soccer champion, Division B. Following this performance, our team qualified, for the first time in history, in Division A - elite of beach soccer in Europe and is set to progress to the European Games in 2023.
