According to the Ministry of Justice, the number of convictions for unpaid community service has also increased in recent years. In the first half of the year, 3,822 sanctions and punishments in the form of community service arrived, which is a 3% increase compared to the first six months of last year. Likewise, over a hundred minors were involved in resocialization and reintegration activities and benefited from psychological, family or educational counseling, legal assistance, training courses, etc.

Present at the meeting to report on the activity of the National Probation Inspectorate /INP/, the Minister of Justice, Sergiu Litvinenco, mentioned that probation is also a priority and urged INP collaborators to show more involvement and apply the principle of professional integrity in any situation. "There are areas that need to be reformed. The Ministry of Justice will support legislative initiatives to strengthen the institution of probation and align practices with the best European models, increase integrity among probation employees, develop probation programs, promote alternative punishments to detention, in the conditions in which we aim to reduce the pressure of overpopulation penitentiaries", emphasized Minister Sergiu Litvinenco.

INP conducted 11 probationary programs in the first part of the year, 10% more than in the same period last year.
