Moldovan agriculture minister presents activity report of ministry

Chisinau, August 8 /MOLDPRES/- Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vladimir Bolea presented today the actions carried out by the institution's team, one year after the Government's investiture.

"In order to make the activity of agricultural producers more efficient, to ensure the food security of the country and to increase the well-being and safety of consumers, a series of activities was undertaken by the joint ministry with the relevant authorities in the country and abroad," said Bolea.

Among the most important actions, the minister named the allocation of 1.75 billion lei (less than one billion euros) for the National Fund for the Development of Agriculture and the Rural Environment, over 60% more than last year; the granting of over 300 million lei to fully compensate the excise duties on diesel fuel used in 2022 by small and medium-sized agricultural producers; doubling the EU export quotas for seven Moldovan agricultural products: plums, apples, tomatoes, table grapes, garlic, cherries and grape juice, etc.

"Also, it is worth noting the expansion of the list of socially important products and the capping of the allowed commercial addition (deodorized oil, pork, poultry, frozen fish, beet sugar, pasta, eggs, potatoes, onions, white cabbage, carrot and fresh beetroot), strengthening the subsidy framework in agriculture by improving the access of micro small and small producers, young farmers and women farmers to aid from the state. At the same time, the subsidy ceiling was increased in order to encourage the association of agricultural producers; post-harvest and processing infrastructure development; milk/meat production, farm renovation; the purchase of equipment and installations for the production of renewable energy; supporting the competitiveness of the wine sector", revealed Vladimir Bolea.

According to the official, for the next period, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry has set several urgent priorities, which refer to: the approval of the National Strategy for Agricultural and Rural Development 2022-2027; approving the Program regarding the food security of the country 2022-2024; adjusting the subsidy mechanism; facilitating the obtaining of environmental authorizations for the special use of water/irrigation of agricultural land, in extreme climatic conditions; exemption from the payment of excise duties on the import of fuel oil/fuel used by enterprises processing the production of vegetable origin; penetration of new markets.
