Chisinau, August 10 /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Natalia Gavriliţa ordered at today's cabinet meeting to check the situation and the facts regarding the announcement of the Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance Service of the Russian Federation (Rosselihoznadzor) that it will set temporary restrictions on the import of plant products from some districts of Republic of Moldova.

The Prime Minister addressed in particular the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, implicitly the National Agency for Food Safety (ANSA), to undertake controls in this sense, contracting independent international firms for certification of agricultural production if necessary. Natalia Gavriliţa was puzzled by the fact that "parasitic insects were found in the fruits from Criuleni, but not in those from Dubăsari".

At the same time, the head of the Cabinet of Ministers asked the members of the Government to intensify their competence activity and to increase the area of markets for the sale of vegetable and fruit products in our country. "We must first of all make sure that our goods are safe and competitive, look for new markets and promote Moldovan goods wherever they are in demand," the official said.

The Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance Service of the Russian Federation (Rosselihoznadzor) announced yesterday that from August 15, it will introduce temporary restrictions on the import of plant products from some districts of the Republic of Moldova.
