Moldovan deputy premier for reintegration meets Special Representative of Ukraine for Transnistrian settlement

Chisinau, August 10 /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Serebrian had a meeting with Special Representative of Ukraine for Transnistrian settlement Yuri Klimenko, who is on a working visit to Moldova and accompanied by Ambassador of Ukraine to Moldova Marko Şevcenko, the Bureau of reintegration has reported.

The dialogue focused on the latest developments in the negotiation formats on the Transnistrian settlement, the approaches and priority directions of intervention of the authorities of the Republic of Moldova in order to satisfy the daily needs of the inhabitants on both banks of the Dniester, as well as the primordial problems.

It was emphasized that the 1+1 format and that of the sectoral working groups remain functional at present, and the commitment to the political and peaceful settlement of the Transnistrian conflict within the sovereign and integrated territorial state of the Republic of Moldova remains valid despite some provocative allegations launched in the public space.

The officials exchanged information and opinions on the complex regional situation, the aspects that require permanent coordination, the forms of mutual assistance provided by the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine, the progress made in the European integration process, being reiterated the firm support for sovereignty and the territorial integrity of both countries, the prevention of outbreaks of destabilization and the maintenance of an atmosphere of security and prosperity.

It was agreed to maintain permanent channels of communication, cooperation and coordination in order to effectively manage elements of common interest.
