Chisinau, August 11 /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița participated today in the National Youth Conference of Moldova, Youth Peace Builders and the role of the youth sector in the Government's response to the refugee crisis in Moldova, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

The official appreciated the active involvement of young people and youth organizations in solving the problems of refugees in Ukraine, emphasizing the professionalism and solidarity with which they acted to help those who fled the path of war.

"During the history of the Republic of Moldova, there were several events that defined entire generations. You young people today are going through a time marked by crisis, but it is how you have engaged in the management of the refugee crisis that will define the course of your generation. Thanks to the qualities you demonstrated, the slogan "A small country with a big heart" became a reality," said Natalia Gavrilița.

The official emphasized that the Republic of Moldova received the largest number of Ukrainian refugees per capita, but, despite the limited resources, through the involvement of the people, our country managed to overcome the existing difficulties, becoming more resilient and strong. "Our capabilities clearly indicated that only through solidarity and everyone's participation will we be able to cope. The immediate involvement of volunteers, authorities, non-governmental organizations, private enterprises and every individual citizen made us known in the world for the way we managed the crisis", said Natalia Gavrilița.

According to the prime minister, more than 70 thousand refugees remain in the country, and various activities are organized for young Ukrainians that contribute to their social inclusion. At the same time, the Government remains focused on promoting youth policies. In this sense, the "START for YOUTH: a sustainable business at your home" program was launched, grants were awarded for youth organizations and cultural vouchers, and a Youth Agency will be created in the near future.

"We have several initiatives and I assure you that we will make every effort to, together with you, keep the implementation of policies for young people as a priority. We will work and do our best to come out of all the crises strong and with a generation prepared to bring Moldova into the European Union", said the Prime Minister.

The National Youth Conference of Moldova, organized by the National Youth Council of Moldova, is a platform where the problems of young people and youth associations in our country are discussed. Annually, on August 12, together with the other 192 UN member states, the Republic of Moldova celebrates International Youth Day.
