IGSU to purchase 19 emergency vehicles with support of Japan International Cooperation Agency

Chisinau, August 11 /MOLDPRES/- The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations /IGSU/ will purchase 19 emergency vehicles with the support of the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

The management of IGSU had a working meeting today with the Japanese firefighters and engineers in the framework of the implementation of the project.

The officials communicated about the training of specialists in the field of fire extinguishing management, firefighting tactics, but also possible training courses for Moldovan firefighters on the use and handling of new special vehicles, which are to be procured within the program.

The activities are carried out as a result of the signing on June 24, 2022 by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Ana Revenco, of the Grant Agreement for the Project on improving fire prevention equipment between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Japan International Cooperation Agency.

The 19 emergency vehicles will be assigned to subdivisions in the municipalities of Chisinau, Balti, Cahul, Ungheni and Orhei. Of the total equipment purchased, 10 will be ladder trucks and nine special trucks. The value of the grant contract offered by JICA is almost 240 million lei /over 12 million euros/.
