Chisinau, August 16 /MOLDPRES/- Customs Service management, together with representatives of USAID Moldova and experts of the USAID MISRA Program carried out a visit today to examine the mobile workspaces, which will be offered by USAID for one-stop control at the border with the EU.

According to the Customs Service, currently, the commercial corridors of the Republic of Moldova are overburdened by both the seasonal transport of agricultural products and the flow of goods in transit from and to Ukraine. In these circumstances, streamlining the transport of goods at the border crossing to the EU is extremely important.

According to the customs authorities, an important step in smoothing the flow of goods carried out by the government of the Republic of Moldova and that of Romania is the one-stop control, which will speed up the crossing of the border and thus smoothen the movement of goods. This activity involves the movement of customs officials in mobile stations, and USAID Moldova provides the necessary work spaces for carrying out one-stop controls.

Mobile workspaces are similar to standard intermodal containers with dimensions of 6 x 2.4 m, which allows them to be transported by regular cargo trucks. They are acoustically and thermally insulated, have high-performance interior lighting and an electrification system that allows simple connection to the network. The interior is equipped with four workstations in the form of a counter, fully furnished and equipped with the necessary equipment; including: computers, printers, safes and the minimum necessary comfort – air conditioning equipment and refrigerators.

The Customs Service specified that, thanks to these fully autonomous and mobile workspaces offered by USAID Moldova, the Government of the Republic of Moldova through the Customs Service is logistically ready to start the one-stop control in a short time to streamline the export and the transit of goods at the border with the EU.
