Moldovan agricultural products export to China to increase

09:38 | 17.08.2022 Category: Economic

Chisinau, Aug. 17 /MOLDPRES/- The value of foreign trade in agricultural products from the Republic of Moldova to the People's Republic of China could increase. Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vladimir Bolea and Ambassador of China to Chisinau Yan Wenbin reached the conclusion at yesterday's meeting.

The discussion focused on strengthening economic relations between the states, promoting the export of agricultural products to the Chinese market and analyzing administrative and logistical impediments for the delivery of batches of fresh fruits and vegetables.

"China keeps its markets open for Moldovan agricultural products, being especially interested in cherries, sour cherries, grape seeds, nuts, oil, sawdust, apples, wine, cereals etc. There is a need for domestic producers to show more initiative to obtain the importer's license, which is a key moment for accelerating exports," said Yan Wenbin. The diplomat also said he will contribute to ensure the dissemination of Chinese experience regarding technological innovations in the irrigation and soil processing sector.

For his part, Vladimir Bolea reiterated that the Chinese market remains a target market, which is to be exploited further, with Moldovan wine products being promoted through the National Vine and Wine Office. "At the same time, we are grateful that you support our country's approach to boost exports of agri-food products on this market," he said.

According to statistics, 3.6% of the total Moldovan alcoholic production exported in 2021 was directed to the market of the People's Republic of China, which is worth about 9.3 billion US dollars. There is also an interest in strong alcoholic beverages, the export of which increased in 2021 by about 60% compared to 2020, and in value by about 32%.
