Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office head presented institution's priorities for next period

Chisinau, August 19 /MOLDPRES/- Chief prosecutor of the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office (PA) Veronica Dragălin held a press conference today, in which she presented the situation in the Prosecutor's Office, as well as the institution's priorities for the next period.

The head of Anticorruption mentioned that he wants the institution to become a functional autonomy, and the prosecutors will fight against big corruption and will target not only former but also current officials and dignitaries.

"We as an institution must have enough courage to investigate the people with the greatest power in the country, former, but more importantly for me, current. They are even prosecutors, judges, officers, politicians, from the opposition or from power. We must discourage corruption in the judicial system, in the Parliament, in the Government, in the leadership of the political parties, but also in the municipal and district councils", said Drăgălin.

She mentioned that the institution must become more transparent, even if the law provides for some restrictions, they must be revised.

Veronica Dragălin stated that, since taking over the position on August 1, she had meetings with most of the employees and with the directors of the CNA, of the SIS, with the head of the SPIA of the MAI, with development partners, civil society, external experts.
