Chisinau, August 25 /MOLDPRES/- The Information Technology and Cyber Security Service (STISC) announced today that several cyber attack attemps on state information systems have been countered during last 72 hours.

According to the institution, about 80 information systems, platforms and public portals were attacks' target. "The nature of the attacks is complex, on several vectors, having a continuous adaptive character to the response measures taken. Their intensity changed, increasing continuously during the day and decreasing during the night. All attempts to compromise the systems have been reported to law enforcement institutions," STISC said.

"The cyber attack attempts aimed to cause the unavailability of the state's information resources by sending a number of connection requests or a large volume of data, with the purpose of overloading the processing resources of the information systems. According to the preliminary analysis, the attacks have a distributed nature and are carried out from outside Moldova, from IP addresses located in different countries, from compromised equipment and networks - a typical situation for such cyber incidents", according to the cited source.

STISC, jointly with the responsible authorities and law enforcement institutions operate in an alert mode to counter attacks, minimize their impact, ensure the functionality of government information systems and identify the persons involved, with their subsequent prosecution. Also, STISC is continuously monitoring the dynamics of attacks. The evolution of the situation will be communicated periodically.
