Chisinau, August 25 /MOLDPRES/- The National Agency for Food Safety said it found a batch of imported melon of about 1400 kg with nitrate content exceeding the permissible level.
According to the Agency, as part of the prompt actions of the inspectors, it was ordered to prohibit the sale of the batch. The economic agent, in cooperation with the Agency decided to turn to good account the non-compliant batch by converting it into biogas.
In this context, ANSA comes up with the following recommendations: procurement of fresh fruits and vegetables will be made from places authorized/registered by the Agency; attention will be drawn that they are not altered; traders must have documents confirming the harmlessness of the plant products they sell, namely the test reports carried out by an accredited laboratory, and can present them to the consumer upon request.
If non-compliant food products or deviations from the provisions of consumer protection legislation are found, citizens are urged to submit a petition to ANSA.
