Government presents National Development Strategy Moldova 2030

Chisinau, August 26 /MOLDPRES- The government presented today the National Development Strategy Moldova 2030, which was proposed for public consultation. Attending the meeting were representatives of the Executive leadership, central and regional authorities, business environment, academic environment, as well as civil society.

"In the current extremely difficult context, the Republic of Moldova being affected by regional and global crises, the Government proposed to define a medium and long-term development vision to strengthen resilience against future crises and create the basis for sustainable and inclusive development of the country", Prime Minister Natalia Gavriliţa said.

The strategy is the long-term national document that describes the country's development directions and adapts the priorities, objectives, indicators and targets of the international commitments undertaken by Moldova to the national context. It is about the Association Agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union and the commitments deriving from the status of a candidate country for EU accession, as well as the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.

According to Dumitru Udrea, Secretary General of the Government, the need for the document is determined by ensuring a unique and coherent framework that will strengthen public policies. "The urgency of a strategic document is also conditioned by the new economic, social and security realities that affect the Republic of Moldova, as well as the entire region or even the world. The COVID-19 pandemic, the energy crisis, accelerated price increases, recurrent droughts and floods, economic crises and, more recently, the security crisis caused by the Russian Federation's military invasion of Ukraine, all highlight the importance of a planning document that contributes to a better adaptation to the new realities, as well as to enhance the development process by turning to good account opportunities and actively preventing risks", the official said.

For the sustainable development of our country, the most important dimensions of the quality of life are: income, living conditions, education, culture, health, social solidarity, trust in government, trust in justice, human security, environmental quality, etc. The Strategy's goals respond to the urgent needs of society. The document makes a direct connection between welfare aspirations, on the one hand, and the policies that will contribute to the objectives, on the other hand.

Also, the document will guide the assistance of the development partners of the Republic of Moldova in relation to the national development priorities and will ensure a better coordination of the projects and available resources. Another mission of the Strategy will be to mobilize representatives of civil society and the scientific community to strengthen their joint efforts for priority sectors and areas that ensure the quality of life.
