Chisinau, August 26 /MOLDPRES/- Today President Maia Sandu conveyed a message of gratitude to citizens on the eve of Independence Day of the Republic of Moldova.
"Six months ago, the peace of our Ukrainian neighbors was shattered by a cruel war, which continues to destroy their villages and cities, and take human lives. From the first day, the people of Moldova rejected the evil of war and opened wide their homes and hearts for the children, women and elderly of Ukraine, who were fleeing from the path of destruction and death", the president said.
Maia Sandu said that in this way, we demonstrated to ourselves and the whole world, through an admirable solidarity, that we are ready to help those who have it harder than us. Also, Maia Sandu notes in her message that the deeds of the Moldovans have shown that we are a small country with a big heart.
"On the eve of the Independence Day of the Republic of Moldova, I urge you not to forget, to preserve and amplify this image of unity and kindness, which we have today about us as a people and as a country - it tells us that we can count on each other", concluded Maia Sandu.
