IGSU rescuers intervened during night to liquidate consequences of heavy rainfall

Chisinau, Aug. 31 /MOLDPRES/- Employees of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations /IGSU/ worked all night to liquidate the consequences of the heavy rainfall in the evening of August 30. Most of the rescuers' missions were recorded in Chisinau, as well as localities in Cahul, Criuleni, Basarabeasca and Găgăuzia.

According to the IGSU, in the last 24 hours, the institution received and managed 124 emergency calls from the 112 Service. For the operative liquidation of the consequences of the torrential rain, 10 towing missions of stuck transport units were carried out in the country, five missions of clearing fallen trees over vehicles and roads and 14 missions to pump water from flooded areas and basements of citizens.

In Chisinau, firefighters pumped water from several basements of residential blocks and administrative buildings.

In Criuleni, the rescuers cleared several fallen trees on the route between the villages of Hârtopul Mare and Izbiște. A similar intervention took place in the town of Cocieri, Dubăsari, after a tree blocked the road from the entrance to the town. Water pumping and evacuation works also took place at several addresses in Gagauzia, Cahul and Basarabeasca.
