National Army celebrated 31 years since creation

Chisinau, 3 Sep. /MOLDPRES/- A strong and well-equipped military gives the country confidence in its own forces, freedom of action and strategic options in case of danger. A strong army supports the feeling of patriotism and strengthens the citizens in difficult times that threaten the existence of the country. Therefore, it is our duty to build a modern, professional, well-equipped army capable of facing challenges.

President of the Republic of Moldova, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces Maia Sandu made the statement at an official ceremony dedicated to the 31st anniversary of the creation of the National Army.

Minister of Defense congratulated the entire force of the National Army, noting that over the years, the defense institution went through difficult periods, but also through a series of transformations and reforms, which aimed to transform the National Army and its adjustment to the current national and regional security situation.

"Today, we tend to strengthen our national security, stability and resilience in the face of any challenges. And this is possible by creating a modern army, able to defend citizens from any threat to our state. In this context, we count even more on the support of our partners, veterans, civil society and all citizens who want the Republic of Moldova to have an army equipped, according to international standards, capable of fulfilling its internal missions and external commitments" , said Nosatîi.

The National Army was created on 3 September 1991, by a presidential decree.
