UNDP approved 2023-2027 Country Program for Moldova

Chisinau, 5 Sep. /MOLDPRES/- The Executive Committee of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) approved the 2023-2027 Country Program for the Republic of Moldova. It provides assistance for the country in four major areas, supporting the vision of a society with a high degree of social cohesion, inclusive, legal and more resilient, as well as with a better quality of life for everyone, UNDP Moldova announced today.
"We appreciate the contribution of the new UNDP country program to the sustainable development of Moldova, through the important support provided in priority areas such as justice, renewable energy, the green economy and digitalization. The partnership and continuous support from the UNDP is important in overcoming the crises affecting our country and for ensuring the well-being of the population", said Gheorghe Leucă, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Moldova to the UN.
In 2023-2027, UNDP will continue to assist Moldova in managing the multidimensional shocks caused by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the war in Ukraine and the energy crisis, as well as in strengthening its economic, social and environmental resilience.
"UNDP is well positioned to provide further support to the Government and has specific comparative advantages that include neutrality, expertise, rapid and integrated response, presence on the ground, strong and innovative partnerships, efficiency, as well as the ability to convene and mobilize the support of all actors around the Sustainable Development Goals and their advancement in Moldova", Dima Al-Khatib, Resident Representative of UNDP in Chisinau said.
UNDP has been present in the Republic of Moldova since 1992, covering two thirds of the communities, including in Gagauzia and the Transnistrian region.
