Moldovan parliament speaker meets Danish counterpart

Chisinau, 6 September /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu has had a meeting with Parliament Speaker of Denmark Henrik Dam Kristensen in Copenhagen. The officials discussed the strengthening of the Moldovan-Danish, relations and the extension of the contracts between the two countries, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.  

The main subject of the discussion was the European integration agenda of Moldova, in the context that the country got the status of country candidate for EU. The Moldovan speaker thanked for the support by Denmark of the European Commission’s Opinion to give Moldova this status. ‘’Moldova’s European integration is our country project and we do our utmost to advance in this respect through concrete reforms and in the citizens’ interest,’’ Igor Grosu said.   

The two parliament speakers exchanged opinions on the situation in the region, in the context of Russia’s war against Ukraine. The Moldova speaker noted that there were over 80,000 Ukrainians in Moldova at present and the authorities’ efforts were focused on the refugees’ integration in the education process and in work.  

At the discussions, the Moldovan official stressed the country’s interest in the cooperation in the energy efficiency and digitalization sector, as well as in the identification of new opportunities of attracting Danish investments in Moldova. The parliament speaker encouraged Danish companies to invest in Moldova, especially in the renewable energy sector.  

The Moldovan parliament speaker referred, also, to the priorities of the autumn parliamentary session: improving the legislation, combating misinformation and propaganda, zero tolerance to the non-transparent financing of the political parties. ‘’We will continue making proper order in the public institutions, to improve the business environment, to back the vulnerable categories from the society, to work in order to minimize the war’s impact and to contribute to the regional stability. Yet, we will manage to do this through unity and with true friends,’’ Speaker Igor Grosu said.
