Chisinau, 7 Sep. /MOLDPRES/- After a two-year break, the campaign Come to my home! was relaunched by the National Inbound and Domestic Tourism Association of Moldova (ANTRIM) and will be held by 20 September. It aims at motivating the country's citizens, including those from the diaspora to explore domestic tourist destinations. This year's campaign's goal is to promote and support tourist hosts who have been involved in helping Ukrainian refugees since the beginning of the war.

"The campaign aims to bring to Moldovans (and not only) the desire to discover the scenic beauties of the country, as well as the hospitality of the people here, including the tourist hosts. With the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine, companies in the HoReCa sector mobilized quickly and intensively for the accommodation and assistance of refugees, becoming part of the first line of solidarity shown by the Republic of Moldova", according to ANTRIM.

The campaign also includes a contest that encourages tourists to become ambassadors of Moldova. By 20 September those interested in participating must post a photo or video on social media describing the experience at a tourist guesthouse/winery in the country, using the hashtags #HaiLaMineAcasa #taramicainimamare #beourguest.

The event was launched in 2019, but was put on hold with the outbreak of the pandemic, which greatly limited the options and tourist activities. According to experts, in 2019 almost 377 thousand Moldovan citizens and foreigners were served by the travel agencies of the Republic of Moldova. The indicator decreased dramatically in 2020, as a result of the pandemic, reaching only 125 thousand people. This year saw a fairly rapid recovery of organized domestic tourism by about 213 thousands of people accommodated in Moldova already in the first quarter.
