Shor Political Party sanctioned for infringement of Moldova's Electoral Code

Chisinau, 9 September /MOLDPRES/ - The Shor Political Party has been deprived from its subsidies from the state budget for a period of half a year. The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) today approved a decision to this end. CEC found out infringements as to the reporting of incomes and expenses in the electoral campaign carried out for the new local polls held on 29 May 2022.
At the CEC meeting, the deputy head of the Commission, Pavel Postica, said that the formation had violated the provisions of the Electoral Code through presenting erroneous information in the financial report. ‘’We have ascertained the use of non-declared funds in a total amount of approximately 20,000 lei (1,000 euros). At the same time, the exceeding of the financial ceiling established was recorded. The today’s decision represents a signal also for other parties to observe the financial discipline and the provisions of the Electoral Code,’’ Pavel Postica said.
The sanction will be enforced on the period 1 January – 30 June 2023. The CEC decision is to be submitted to the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office.
Presently, the Prosecutor General’s Office (PG) manages a file which regards this formation. Thus, a lawmaker of the Shor Political Party, Marina Tauber, is prosecuted for the forging of the report as to the financial management of the formation for the first quarter of the 2022 year, in an intention to hide the volume of financial means accumulated and the spent ones, as well as the fact of deliberate acceptance of the financing of the Shor Political Party’s by an organized crime ring.
