Chisinau, 13 Sep. /MOLDPRES/- The State Road Administration (ASD) announced today that it has installed 15 video cameras to measure traffic intensity in different areas all connected through a special software.
According to the institution, the project includes 15 video analysis units for measuring objects (transport units) and evaluating their trajectories in real time, in the following categories: bicycle, motorcycle; cars; trucks; buses; articulated vehicles (semi-trailers, trailers). "With their help, a record will be made of the daily flow of cars, and the data will help schedule repair works more effectively", ASD said.
The software was designed in the Czech Republic and the equipment is also brought from there. The recorded data is stored in a special program that generates daily statistical reports. Thus, ASD proposes to install, alongside the video cameras, 15 meteorological stations that will transmit information on the sections of the road with ice or snow, including the location of problem areas.
For the purchase of the equipment, 1.8 million lei (about one hundred thousand euros) were spent from the Road Fund. The system involves the modernization of the infrastructure and will be extended to cover the entire national public road network.
