Moldova to benefit from French consultancy in irrigation

Chisinau, 14 Sep. /MOLDPRES/- Moldova will benefit from French consultancy in irrigation. This agreement was reached at yesterday's meeting between Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vladimir Bolea and Regional Director of the French Development Agency (AFD) Cécile Couprie.

According to the French side, an international consultant is to come to Moldova to set up a country study in the irrigation sector. Recommendations will be formulated regarding the implementation of the best solutions to solve the problems in the sector.

At the same time, Couprie reiterated the AFD's willingness to provide the necessary support to the process of adapting agriculture to climate change, through financing instruments and technical support to public and private actors. "Investment programs and mechanisms will be developed jointly with the European Investment Bank and the International Fund for Agricultural Development in order to stimulate agricultural producers to use modern agricultural technologies, based on irrigation," said Couprie.

Bolea said that the ministerial team will ensure an effective cooperation framework and will provide all the necessary information for a complex evaluation of the irrigation sector.
