Premiere of CARBON movie to take place at San Sebastian International Film Festival

Chisinau, 15 September /MOLDPRES/ - The movie, CARBON, will be screened at the 70th edition of the San Sebastian International Film festival (Spain) for the first time in the world. The film is included in the top 10 cinematographic events from all over the world. The opening of the festival will take place on 16 September.   

CARBON is selected for screening at the New Directors section.   

The movie, CARBON, the action of which takes place in Moldova of the 1992 year in the direct neighbourhood of the ‘’hot’’ zones of the conflict at Dniester, tells the story of a young tractor driver, Dima, who starts an absurd adventure, full of clumsy situations, when the hero faces the indifference, pursuing the profit and the foolishness of the people around him. Dima learns one important thing the entire this story – ‘’to be Man!’’ – a lesson which eventually manages to change his life.    

Earlier two films directed by Emil Loteanu were awarded prizes at the San Sebastian Festival. Thus, in 1972, the movie, Lăutarii, (Fiddlers) got the Silver Shell and the Special Prize of Jury and in 1976, the film, Șatra (The Gypsy Camp) won the Golden Shell at the same festival.   

In Moldova, the national premiere of this film will take place at the Nicolae Sulac National Palace on 4 October. Starting from 6 October, the movie CARBON will be screened in the network of movies cinemas Cineplex and at the ODEON Cultural Centre.
