Moldovan diplomacy head meets counterparts from Ireland, Lithuania

Chisinau, 15 September /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu in Chisinau has received on visit Foreign Affairs Minister of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis and Foreign Affairs Minister of Ireland Simon Coveney, who are in Moldova in the context of their joint visit to Odessa, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) public diplomacy, strategic communication and media interaction service has reported.  

„The European partners, just as our citizens firmly believe in the European future of Moldova and firmly back the process of modernization and transformation carried out by the authorities,’’ Deputy PM Nicu Popescu stressed.      

The Moldovan official discussed with the European diplomats Moldova’s determination to ensure the agenda of reforms in the justice field, fight against corruption and strengthening the administrative capacity.  

Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu thanked for the support of the European Union, Lithuania and Ireland for the consolidation of Moldova’s resilience, which ensures resistance to the current challenges, triggered by the impact of Russia’s unjustified war against Ukraine, including in the social, economic, humanitarian and energy spheres.  

„We welcomed the visit by representatives of the International Atomic Energy Agency to the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant and we support its demilitarization. I agreed together with the ministers to develop, in the near time, new initiatives along with Lithuania and Ireland, meant to strengthen our process of accession to EU,’’ Minister Nicu Popescu said.
