Chisinau, 20 Sep. /MOLDPRES/- The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI) today received eight cars and a batch of equipment offered by the UN Refugee Agency in order to strengthen the capacities to react to the current needs of the Migration and Asylum Office (BMA).

The donation includes eight Suzuki Vitara cars, 16 laptops, multifunction printers, internet routers, 6 KW generators, air conditioners, small refrigerators, safes and surveillance cameras.

Attending the event were Minister of Internal Affairs Ana Revenco, Italian ambassador to Moldova Lorenzo Tamasoni and Representative of the UN Refugee Agency in Moldova Francesca Bonelli.

"We thank our partners for supporting us and responding promptly to our requests to strengthen our capabilities. The fortification of the BMA proves the need to act quickly in the context of the multiple needs that arose in the context of the war in Ukraine,"  Ana Revenco said.

For his part, Lorenzo Tamasoni said that the Republic of Moldova is one of the best examples of managing the refugee crisis. "It is not the first donation gesture offered in the context of the large flow of refugees and we believe with certainty that the goods offered today will significantly contribute to the operationalization of work processes," he said.

"We have witnessed the involvement of the MAI in the management of the refugee crisis and we are convinced that this donation is only a small part of the aid. We are with you in responding to the current needs of the refugees," said Francesca Bonelli.

The aid comes to support the efforts of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the crisis generated by the intense flow of refugees from Ukraine and the development of an integrated migration management system, on the administrative line of the Republic of Moldova. The value of the donation is over 500 thousand euros.
