Venice Commission delegation to visit Chisinau next few days

Chisinau, 21 Sep. /MOLDPRES/- A group of experts from the European Commission for Democracy through Law (Venice Commission) will pay an information visit to Chisinau on 22-23 September.

The officials will have meetings with Speaker Igor Grosu, members of the culture, education, research, youth, sports and mass media commission, of the national security, defense and public order commission and with representatives of the Communist and Socialist Bloc parliamentary faction. The visit's agenda includes meetings with representatives of the Audiovisual Council, the Constitutional Court, the General Prosecutor's Office and the Supreme Court of Justice of the Republic of Moldova.

The discussion agenda includes consultations and an exchange of views on the amendments to the Audiovisual Media Services Code. The delegation is made up of experts Veronika Bilkova (Czech Republic) and Jan Velaers (Belgium), as well as official of the Council of Europe Michael Janssen.

The Venice Commission experts' visit takes place in the context of the preparation of the Commission's Opinion on the Information Security Law and on the Law criminalizing the use of symbols associated with the war in Ukraine. The opinion is to be examined and adopted during the 132nd Plenary Session of the Venice Commission on 21-22 October.
