Moldovan parliament speaker, Venice Commission experts discuss Information security subject

Chisinau, 22 September /MOLDPRES/ - The information security subject today was discussed at a meeting between Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu and members of the European Commission for Democracy through Law (Venice Commission), on a visit to Chisinau. The discussions were focused on the amendments to the audiovisual media services code, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.    

The parliament speaker noted that the legislative amendments had been aimed including against the aggressive militarist propaganda, in order to protect the national audiovisual space and ensure the citizens’ information security.

„In the situation faced by Moldova at present – with a war of Russia in Ukraine, with more than half a million Ukrainian citizens who crossed our country, our duty was to intervene with legislative meant to stop the propaganda. No audiovisual programmes can be broadcast which, no matter their origin, justify the aggression wars, deny the war crimes and the crimes against humanity or incite to hatred,’’ the parliament speaker said at the meeting.  

Igor Grosu stressed that the authorities had the task to further ensure an objective information space, so that the citizens can analyze the things coming from objective information, not from propaganda or false sources.
