Moldovan president discusses with German business representatives in Berlin

Chisinau, 23 September /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu has held discussions with representatives of the business environment from Germany during her visit to Berlin, the presidential press service has reported.   

The head of state was the guest of an event titled, RTL Dialog Unter Drei, (RTK Dialogue between Three) – an informal platform of discussions hosted by the German audiovisual company RTL. The event brought together the leaders of the biggest industrial corporations from Germany – including Rewe Group, Audi, BASF, Otto Group, Deutsche Bahn, Deutsche Telekom and others, in order to bring for discussion opportunities provided by Moldova to foreign investors. President Maia Sandu referred to the challenges faced by Moldova, in the context of Russia’s war in Ukraine, as well as to the agenda of reforms and perspectives of the country’s European integration.  

In the end of her visit to the German capital, President Maia Sandu had a meeting with representatives of Ost-Ausschuss, a business association specialized in the relations with the Central and Eastern Europe. The head of state spoke to the leaders of the German industries, among which Knauf, METRO AG, BP Europa, Deutsche Saatgut agricultural concern, about the reforms for the support of the business environment, underway in Moldova.   

The interlocutors also touched upon the investment opportunities offered by Moldova, especially in the context of the getting of the status of country candidate for accession to the European Union. President Maia Sandu noted that Moldova was interested in the attraction of German investments in diverse sectors, such as the agricultural one or processing, investments which will create new jobs for Moldova’s citizens. Presently, over 400 companies with German capital already work in Moldova.
