Ivan Franko Academic Theatre from Kiev to stage play in Moldovan capital today

Chisinau, 26 September /MOLDPRES/ - A play titled, Coriolanus, by William Shakespeare, stage manager Dmytro Bogomazov, presented by the Ivan Franko Academic Theatre from Kiev, Ukraine, will be staged at the Mihai Eminescu National Theatre (TNME) today at 19:00. The event is part of the Meeting of Romanian National Theatres, the seventh edition, held in Chisinau on 15 -28 September, with the title, The artists for peace, freedom, hope.
On 25 September, the troupe of the Kiev-based Theatre had a dialogue with the audience from Chisinau at a news conference. Attending the discussion was the creation team of the Coriolanus play.
The presence of the Ivan Franko National Dramatic Academic Theatre from Kiev at the Meeting of Romanian National Theatres in Chisinau was possible due to the support of the Swiss Cooperation Office in Moldova.
TNME director Petru Hadarca said the 2022 issue of the Meeting was held in conditions of big social tension and individual tension. Artists of 17 theatres from both banks of Prut came to Chisinau to plead for peace, in order to support the confidence in the values of freedom and to maintain the hope that the kindness, good understanding, solidarity, love are strong than weapons. Since the first days of the war, the Mihai Eminescu National Theatre expressed solidarity with the artists and people from Ukraine. ‘’I invited to the Meeting our colleagues from the Ivan Franko Dramatic National Academic Theatre from Kiev and we were happy that the invitation was accepted,’’ Petru Hadarca added.
