Chisinau, 28 Sep. /MOLDPRES/- The promotion of the Republic of Moldova as a wine tourism destination and the solutions for increasing the export of Moldovan wines on the Japanese market were the main aspects of the discussion between Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița and a group of Japanese importers of Moldovan wines, the government's communications and protocol department has reported.

The parties appreciated the 20% increase in the export of wine products to Japan in the first half of this year, despite the disruption of logistics chains, which caused higher costs for importers. In these circumstances, the possibilities of expanding Moldovan-Japanese cooperation were discussed, noting a great potential in the commercial relationship between both states.

"Thank you for promoting Moldovan products, especially wines, on the Japanese market and for your efforts in overcoming export challenges. We will try to identify the necessary solutions to maintain the positive dynamics in the Moldovan-Japanese commercial relationship, especially by reducing taxes on the import of Moldovan wines, and we count on your support in promoting the Republic of Moldova as a wine tourism destination", said Gavrilița.

A mission of experts from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is to work out jointly with the Moldovan authorities a project aimed at increasing the export of our products to Japan and diversifying the portfolio of exported products.

Also, the bilateral agenda includes a Program of collaboration and technical assistance in culture and tourism, aimed at promoting the tourist potential, carrying out cultural activities and organizing events to promote tourist destinations in the Republic of Moldova and Japan.
