Moldova's delegation to Joint Control Commission demands observance of basic acts of peacekeeping mission

15:44 | 29.09.2022 Category: Official

Chisinau, 29 September /MOLDPRES/ - The participants in a today’s meeting of the Joint Control Commission (JCC) continued discussions on proposals of earlier formulated solutions to remedy the problem of the posts abusively set by Tiraspol in the Security Zone, under the pretext of ‘’terrorist threat,’’ the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.

Moldova’s delegation reiterated the need of removing the posts, highlighting that their presence ran counter the basic acts of the peacekeeping mission and boosted the obstacles set by the Transnistrian power wielding structures to the free movement of citizens.

In another context, Moldova’s delegation reacted to insinuations of Transnistrian representatives and their attempts to manipulate the public opinion about the Fire Shield – 2022 exercises, organized in a planned way and with the observance of legal framework by the National Army.

In a call, the Moldovan delegation stressed that such activities had taken place annually starting from 2015, were held outside the perimeter of the Security Zone and the residents were preliminarily informed officially.

The Chisinau representatives drew the attention of the participants in the Joint Control Commission that, since the beginning of 2021, at least 134 training shootings had been held at the Tiraspol shooting range (placed in the immediate neighbourhood of the of the Security Zone and partially even on its perimeter). Another 30 training military actions were held by Transnistrian power wielding structures at other shooting ranges, also in the Security Zone and on the adjacent area. Neither JCC, nor the residents were informed about these cases.

In the context, Moldova’s delegation asked to give a correct assessment of the abuses enumerated, in which one can see attempts to create confrontations and block the Commission’s work.

In the cited document, Moldova’s delegation made a call to give up such destabilizing actions and to observe the basic acts of the peacekeeping mission at Dniester.
