Chisinau, 4 October /MOLDPRES/ - An exhibition titled, In Memoriam, dedicated to the heroes of the nation who died in the Transnistria War, has been inaugurated at the King Ferdinand I National Military Museum from Bucharest. The event was organized by the Agency for Military Science and Memory (ASMM), in cooperation with Moldova’s Embassy in Romania and the Romanian National Military Archives.

ASMM director Vitalie Ciobanu said that, taking into account the dynamic of the events in terms of security in the Eastern Europe, especially in the context of the tragic events in Ukraine, the main goal of the exhibition is not only to commemorate the nation’s heroes, who died in the war at Dniester in 1991-92, but also to promote the historical truth. ‘’This exhibition is meant to remind us those tragic events which, according to the example from Ukraine, are conceived somewhere in the chancelleries from the East and have the same scenarios,’’ Ciobanu noted.

For his part, Moldova’s Ambassador to Romania Victor Chirila said the exhibition was a sign of gratitude to the heroes who had taken to arms to defend their freedom, integrity and future 30 years ago. ‘’This exhibition promotes the truth, as during 30 years, we have seen more attempts to interpret differently the reasons of that conflict, through diminishing the role of the Russian army, which continues to be illegally deployed in Moldova,’’ the ambassador stressed.
