Working group for elaboration, piloting of information system of voting via Internet set up in Moldova

Chisinau, 11 October /MOLDPRES/ - An inter-institutional working group will deal with the elaboration and piloting of an information system of voting via Internet. The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) took a decision to this end today.    

According to CEC, the working group is made up of representatives of the Commission, Electronic Governance Agency, Information Technology and Cyber Security Service, National Centre for Personal Data Protection, as well as of the Civic Coalition for Free and Fair Elections.   

The working group will be in charge of the elaboration of a tender book for the information system of voting via Internet and the technical specifications for the technological infrastructure. At the same time, experts will carry out procedures of public procurements for the contraction of the company/companies developing software and for purchasing of the equipment needed, configuring the technical infrastructure, working out of the information system, its auditing and testing.   

At the same time, the central electoral authority approved the action plan for the elaboration and piloting of the information system of voting via Internet.

The development of the system, Voting through Internet, is one of the goals assumed by CEC, according to the institution’s strategic plan for 2020-2023. In this respect, in last June, the Central Electoral Commission approved the e-Voting Concept of voting via Internet and submitted it to the government and parliament.   

Also today, CEC took note of the reports on the financing of the electoral campaign for the new local elections due on 16 October, for the period 1-7 October.
