Chisinau, Oct. 12 /MOLDPRES/- All public institutions, including the Government, the Parliament and the Presidency will apply measures to reduce energy consumption, Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Spînu, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development announced yesterday.
"I come with a very big request - let's try to save electricity in the next period, especially between 07:00 - 10:00 and 18:00 - 23:00. Why is it so important? Because saving will allow us to have electricity without having to intervene in daily activities. This is important until we find suitable solutions from a financial point of view", Spînu said.
According to the official, as long as Ukraine is forced to stop the supply of electricity and we are forced to use gas savings to receive our energy needs from MGRES, it is important we all save as much as we can.
"We unplug chargers and appliances when we are not using them - this way we can reduce monthly consumption by up to 10%. We turn off the light when we leave the room. Especially between 18:00 and 23:00 when there is the highest consumption. We replace classic light bulbs with LED ones, which consume up to 5 times less. We always turn off our computers when we're not using them. They represent one of the biggest energy consumers in office buildings", he said.
From 11 October, 03:00 in the morning, the Republic of Moldova receives full electricity from MGRES. On 10 October over 80 Russian missiles hit Ukraine. Some of these missiles hit the energy infrastructure and caused the stoppage of electricity exports to the European Union and the Republic of Moldova. "Our country is directly affected by the Russian bombings on Ukraine, considering that we purchase 30% of the electricity consumed from the neighboring country", Andrei Spînu said.
