Moldovan deputy PM for reintegration has meeting with high-ranking officials in Brussels

Chisinau, 13 October /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebrian paid a working visit to Brussels on 10-12 October, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.    

On 11 October, at an invitation by European Commission’s Vice President, European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, the Moldovan deputy PM participated in an annual meeting of the EU delegations’ heads.   

The visit’s agenda included also meetings with ambassador, director general for Eastern Europe and Central Asia of the European External Action Service, Michael Siebert, the head of the Subcommittee on Security and Defence of the European Parliament, Nathalie Loiseau, a EU representative in the 5+2 format of negotiations, Dorota Dlouchy-Suliga, and other officials.      

The deputy PM informed the European interlocutors about the new tendencies in the process of Transnistrian file’s settlement. Oleg Serebrian reconfirmed Moldova’s attachment to the peaceful and comprehensive settlement of this conflict, by observing Moldova’s unity and territorial integrity.     

The official referred also to the deepening of the energy crisis, which can hit the settlements from the left bank of Dniester too, in the new circumstances. These complications make more necessary the resumption of the discussions on a sustainable settlement of the Transnistrian problem.   

In the new international and regional context, EU is to have a more visible and influential role in the process of negotiations and the discussions on Moldova’s reintegration are to be reported to the European integration process.
