Moldovan parliament adopts European Moldova 2030 Strategy

Chisinau, 13 October /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament today adopted the European Moldova 2030 national development strategy with the votes of 52 lawmakers. The strategy represents the national document of long-term strategic vision, which shows the directions of the country’s development and adapts to the national context the priorities of the international commitments taken by Moldova according to the Association Agreement with the European Union and the ones coming from the status of country candidate for accession to EU.   

The development goals contained in the strategy show the aspirations of enhancement of the well-being of the people from Moldova, improving of the citizens’ living, Europeanization of the state’s institutions, strengthening of the democracy, rule of law state and respect for the human rights.  

The document establishes ten general objectives, used to measure the quality of living at the level of the European Union. These are: the increase in revenues from sustainable sources and attention of inequalities; improving the living standards; guaranteeing the relevant and quality education during the entire life; raising the level of culture; improving the physical and mental health condition of the residents; solid and inclusive social protection system; efficient, inclusive and transparent governance; fair, incorruptible and independent justice; peaceful and safe society; sound environment.      

„The draft is set to achieve concrete indexes till 2030, for instance, the reduction of the level of absolute poverty by at least 50 per cent. If the growth of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is higher than the annual planned level of 5 per cent till 2030, respectively, the indexes of reduction of the absolute poverty will be better as well,’’ the document reads.  

The strategy will be the document of reference in the process of working out the medium-term budgetary framework and defines including the consolidation of Moldova’s resilience in the eventuality of new crises. The document will also guide the assistance of the development partners in relation with the national development priorities and will ensure a better coordination of the assistance projects.
