Community post of voluntary firemen inaugurated in settlement from south Moldova district

Chisinau, 14 October /MOLDPRES/ - A new community post of voluntary firemen, which will serve 17 settlements with a population of over 11,000 residents, was inaugurated in the settlement Sarateni, southern Leova district, today.    

According to the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU), nine voluntary firemen will work at the station, chosen among local residents, who will intervene urgently in cases of fire and emergency situations, till the arrival of professional firemen. Once this post inaugurated, voluntary firemen will be able to quicker reach far-away settlements and the intervention time will be shortened.   

The building of the community post has all conditions according to the European standards and it is endowed with kitchen, sanitary point, leisure room and furniture needed. At the same time, the post was endowed with a special vehicle with related equipment, for which a box for its preservation was constructed.    

The post of voluntary firemen was constructed from foundation due to a financial assistance on behalf of the Austrian Development Agency and financial contribution of Estonia, local public authorities, as well as the Leova District Council, within the implementation of a project titled, Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction, of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The overall cost of the investment is about 170,000 euros.
