Chisinau, 16 October /MOLDPRES/ - New local elections are held in three settlements of Moldova: Salcuta, Ialpujeni and Braniste, during which the mayors are to be elected.

According to the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), eight people, nominated by six political parties, run for those four mayor mandates. According to the gender criterion, three candidates are women and five – men.

As many as 6,003 electors are expected to voting. The polling stations will be open during 7:00-21:00.

CEC accredited 20 national observers for the ballot’s monitoring.

New local elections are organized in the Salcuta village, Causeni district and Ialpujeni commune, Cimislia district, for reason of mayors’ death. At the same time, in the Braniste commune, Rascani district, the mayor mandate was ceased before term, because of the impossibility to exercise the powers for a period longer than four months in a row.
