Chisinau, Oct. 20 /MOLDPRES/- President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu conveyed a message to participants of the Moldovan-French Conference on criminal asset recovery, held today in Chisinau. The event brought together police officers, prosecutors and judges from the two countries to discuss and exchange experience and best practices in the field, the presidential press service has reported.

In her message, Maia Sandu appreciated the openness of France to help us fight against big corruption and recovery of stolen assets from Moldova, and thanked President Emmanuel Macron for support in strengthening the rule of law in the country.

The head of state also urged law enforcement bodies to strengthen, following the model of cooperation with France, collaboration with similar institutions in other countries, especially with those in the states where fugitives from Moldovan justice hid their assets. Stolen goods must be recovered and returned to the country, to be used in the interest of the whole society.

"Accelerating the repatriation processes of this money is vital. Our European path and the survival of our country as a democratic state depend on the progress we make in this direction. I believe that this discussion platform, which has brought together the responsible authorities from Moldova and well-known figures from the French legal system will produce the expected results", said Maia Sandu.
