Moldovan president meets delegation of German Bundestag's Budget Committee

Chisinau, 24 October /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu has met more members of the Budget Committee of the German Bundestag, on a fact-collecting visit to Chisinau. The discussions were focused on the Moldovan-German cooperation, the fragile context of security in the region and Moldova’s European integration process, the presidential press service has reported.

The head of state informed the German MPs about the economic difficulties and the ones from the energy sector, presently faced by Moldova, as well as about the support Germany can provide to overcome the current challenges. President Maia Sandu emphasized the decisive role of Germany in the Moldova Support Platform and thanked for the assistance of 60 million euros, recently approved and which will be used for compensations for energy.

Maia Sandu stressed the contribution of German investors to Moldova’s economic development, through the creation of new industries and jobs and the importance of infrastructure projects, carried out in regions with German support. In the context, the head of state said she relied on the help of Germany for the strengthening of the renewable energy sector, which is a strategic one for Moldova’s future.
