Chisinau, 25 October /MOLDPRES/ - Three young people will be tried after they pretended to be bank civil servants and extracted over 175,000 lei (about 9,100 euros) from more bank cards.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Causes (PCCOCS), the young people pretended before victims to be ‘’security offices on bank frauds’’ and asked for their personal data. In communicating with victims, they used as pretext the need to deposit money on another account, in safety, or the blocking of the bank card, after which they were sending false SMS messages to victims about the ‘’successful blocking of the bank card.’’

Subsequently, they were transferring money from victims’ cards to electronic coins - crypto-currency. In many cases, the victims were noticing suspect features in the behavior of the defendants and after they were notifying the bank or were verifying the bank account directly, they already found out that they were dispossessed from large sums of money.

Under the law, the theft committed by members of a crime ring is punished with imprisonment from two to six years.
