First cases of influenza confirmed in Moldova

Chisinau, 26 October /MOLDPRES/ - The number of cases of infection with influenza and acute infections of the upper respiratory tract has increased by 17 per cent in the last week, with the first two cases of seasonal flu recorded.
According to the National Public Health Agency (ANSP), two cases of infection with influenza have been registered since the beginning of the flu season, both in the Moldovan capital.
Last week, 408 samples, collected from people with symptoms compatible with seasonal flu and acute viral respiratory infections, were investigated at ANSP laboratories in terms of the presence of flu, non-flu viruses and SARS-CoV-2.
ANSP informs that, at present, the process of immunization against flu is carried out at more public medical and sanitary institutions from Moldova. The vaccine is administered, as priority, to people from risk groups, those with chronic diseases and compromised immunity and pregnant women.
