National Health Insurance Company launched information campaign on benefits of mandatory health insurance

Chisinau, Oct. 27 /MOLDPRES/- The National Health Insurance Company (CNAM) launched today an information campaign on the benefits of compulsory health insurance.

CNAM head Ion Dodon said "Within the campaign, the rights of insured persons will be presented in order to facilitate their access to compensated medicines and medical devices. CNAM produced three social spots in which the services that can be used by insured persons in the medical institutions contracted by CNAM are brought to the attention. At the same time, we will organize seminars with medical and pharmaceutical service providers. Thus, the problems they face will be determined and possible solutions proposed".

The CNAM management said that this year, it was possible to reduce the waiting time of oncology patients for performing examinations with high-performance devices and the list of compensated medicines and medical devices was expanded.

"We have big ambitions for 2023. It is about digitization and the exclusion of the human factor in scheduling people to high-performance services. At the same time, we want the responsibility of all entities in the field to increase people's access to compensated medicines", he said.

The event will be held on 27 October 2022 - 31 March 2023.

According to CNAM, there are currently three categories of insured persons. It is about the citizens employed in the field of work (a third of the population), who pay 9% of the salary or other rewards. The second category, the broadest, includes citizens insured by the Government: pensioners, disabled people, the unemployed, children and students. The third category includes citizens who insure themselves individually, those who have an income but are not salaried. Most often it is the legal professions and the owners of agricultural land. In 2022, the fee for compulsory health care insurance is 4,056 lei (about 200 euros).
