International scientific conference on regional security in context of settlement of frozen conflicts starts in Moldovan capital

Chisinau, 27 October /MOLDPRES/ - An international scientific conference titled, Regional security in the context of the settlement of frozen conflicts, started at the headquarters of the Agency for Military Science and Memory today.    

Attending the opening of the event were Defence Minister Anatolie Nosatii, Romania’s Ambassador to Moldova Cristian-Leon Turcanu, Lithuania’s Ambassador to Moldova Tadas Valionis, as well as academicians, scientific researchers, professors, civilian and military experts, as well as guests from the Czech Republic, Georgia, Lithuania, Poland, Moldova, Romania, etc.   

In the beginning of the conference, Defence Minister Anatolie Nosatii reiterated the special importance of the meeting in the context of the present developments in the security geopolitical environment, with the presence of a war at Moldova’s borders.    

”The event gives possibility to tackle a wide range of dangers and threats as regards the system of national security, with vulnerabilities and direct and indirect threats, which, incontestably, have a major impact on the resilience of the society and public institutions from Moldova, as well as from the states of the region. The current security challenges incontestably influence the military sector of our country too. In this context, I appreciate the efforts of the Agency for Military Science and Memory and the Hanns Seidel Foundation in Chisinau to hold this meeting, within which we will have possibility to discuss and analyze the present problems and challenges to the national and regional security, to identify perspectives to ensure the tightening of the security of the state’s sectors, under all aspects, as well as to approach solutions to the frozen conflicts from the region,’’ Minister Nosatii said.   

The event, which is held on 27-28 October, comprises two panels of discussions on the subject, Frozen conflicts: the impact on the national and regional security and Evolution of the security environment and of the frozen conflicts in the extended area of the Black Sea, as well as papers on various up-to-date subjects, unveiled by experts of the Institute of Juridical, Political and Sociological Researches, Agency for Military Science and Memory, National Institute for Strategic Sciences (Ukraine), State University of Moldova and the Institute of History, Institute for Political Studies of Defence and Military History (Romania), Alexandru cel Bun Military Academy of Armed Forces and others.  

The international scientific conference, Regional security in the context of the settlement of frozen conflicts, is organized by the Agency for Military Science and Memory, in cooperation with the Hanns Seidel Foundation in Moldova.
