Moldova, Bulgaria sign contract on supply of natural gas

Chisinau, 27 October /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova and Bulgaria today signed a contract on the supply of natural gas through the gas transportation networks of Bulgartransgaz. The document was signed during a visit to Chisinau by President of Bulgaria Rumen Radev.
The contract was signed by the executive director of Bulgartransgaz, Vladimir Malinov and the acting director general of the Energocom stock company, Vadim Binzari. Subsequently, President Maia Sandu and her Bulgarian counterpart held a news conference.
„We go through the most serious energy crisis and we have no more doubts that the energy resources are used by Russia as weapons to undermine the state and our fragile democracy. I welcome the signing of the contract between Energocom and Bulgartransgaz. The access to alternative sources of energy will strengthen our energy independence and will help us be more resilient. We are grateful for the support provided by Bulgaria. We want to extend the bilateral cooperation in the economic sectors, as well as the close cooperation in the cultural and educational field,’’ President Maia Sandu said.
Bulgarian President Rumen Radev said that his country supported the European integration of Moldova and the contract signed today was an important step in backing Chisinau. He also said that, during the visit, the sides had discussed more subjects on investments, as well as cultural issues.
Under this contract, Moldova will be able to receive gas through an international pipeline. .
