Chisinau, Oct. 28 /MOLDPRES/- About 100 educational institutions, schools and kindergartens will modernize their infrastructure in 2022-2023. The money will be allocated from the National Fund for Regional and Local Development, within the European Village program.

According to the government's communication and protocol department, among the modernized institutions are Mihai Eminescu Theoretical High School in Ungheni and Gymnaziul No6 from Balti, which not only repairs its buildings, but also aims to popularize energy efficiency and intelligent energy management.

Mihai Eminescu Theoretical High School in Ungheni is one of the largest educational institutions in the central region, where 1280 students study. In early 2021, the local public authorities accessed European funds worth about 60 million lei (about 3 million euros) for an extensive energy efficiency project of the high school building. The project included changing the windows, thermal insulation of the facade and the roof, changing the wiring, replacing the lighting system with LED bulbs, installing a ventilation system with energy recovery, repairing the interior and exterior of the building, as well as installing a system of photovoltaic panels with a capacity of 10 kW.

At the same time, Gymnasium No6 in Balti with teaching in Russian has been operating since 1954. Since its foundation, the school has never been overhauled. In the summer of the current year, local public authorities obtained 17.8 million lei for the financing of rehabilitation, modernization and energy efficiency works, as part of an urban revitalization project implemented by ADR Nord from the National Fund for Regional and Local Development.

According to head of the gymnasium Valentina Melnicenco, such funding opportunities help schools to solve their problems. "The modernization works that will take place until next summer include changing the windows, thermal insulation of the facade, changing the heating system, installing the ventilation system and repairing the ceilings. Thanks to this project, starting from the next academic year, the 200 students of the gymnasium will learn in much better conditions", said Valentina Melnicenco.

Modernization projects are financed from state and European funds.
