Chisinau, 28 October /MOLDPRES/ - The Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry (MAEIE), in cooperation with the Infrastructure and Regional Development Ministry (MIDR), today organized a videoconference of Deputy PM, Infrastructure and Regional Development Minister Andrei Spinu with Moldova’s ambassadors abroad.

According to the MAEIE’s press service, the participants in the third meeting on the platform of communication and interaction between the cabinet members and the heads of the diplomatic missions and consular offices discussed in detail Moldova’s energy security and the way the diplomatic corps is involved in identifying solutions to the energy crisis.

In the communication with the diplomatic corps’ representatives, Andrei Spinu noted that MIDR was oriented both to immediate needs and the long-term goals. The immediate efforts are focused on the compensation of the deficit of electric energy and development of contacts between the Energocom Company and companies from abroad, in order to identify alternative sources and ways of delivery of energy resources. As for the natural gas, decision-makers work on the purchasing and ensuring the transit of gas.

The MAEIE’s state secretary, Vladimir Cuc, said the diplomacy of Moldova was actively involved in the dialogue with foreign partners to manage the energy crisis. The today’s discussion is a new occasion to set concrete objectives and the next steps, in order to foster the authorities’ effort to improve the negative impact of the crisis, triggered by Russia’s war against Ukraine. The network of contacts of Moldova’s embassies in the accreditation countries is to be turned to good account in the promotion of the state’s goals in the energy sector.

In the end of the meeting, the participants set concrete tasks for the diplomatic mission for promoting the urgent and medium-term needs, in order to consolidate the country’s energy security.
